Red Power-Red Pedagogy Gypsy Murphy (Visiting Scholar in Native American Studies): The field of Native American Studies was born of the social protest movement of the 1960's. With "Red Power" as the rallying cry for Indigenous visibility, colleges and universities began to offer classes that illuminated Indigenous worldviews and ways of knowing. More than merely calling for the inclusion of Indigenous literary, historical and cultural studies on college campuses, it frames Indigenous experience using Indigenous pedagogical tools or "Red Pedagogy".
