Media Policy

The Faculty Senate of the School of Humanities and Sciences endorses the October 4
letter to the editor of The Ithacan from faculty calling upon the administration of Ithaca College
to rescind its new media policy. We have read your October 11 response to the letter, citing the
volume of journalistic requests flowing into your office and those of your vice-presidents, but
find it unconvincing given the number of actual requests reported in The Ithacan. We believe IC
student journalists should have open access to all Ithaca College administrators; an important
part of their education involves learning to navigate their own way through the College
bureaucracy. More crucially, open access is a bedrock of the College community that should not
be abridged.
