When Andy and I met about our conference videos, we went over some aspects of my tutoring strategy to help me improve everything I do. He mentioned he liked my positive feedback strategy, which I was very happy to hear. He also thinks that I do a good job of making my writer comfortable. He mentioned that I do tend to get a little directive, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. I asked him a few questions on how to fix this and he offered some suggestions and sample questions I could ask to bring the focus back to the writer. I had some similar feedback. I thought he did a fantastic job of asking plenty of questions to guide the meeting. He used positive feedback on one section to help her improve another – which is something I really want to start incorporating into my own sessions. It was good to hear that my current strategy is efficient and I am excited to constantly work on and improve it.
