August 2013 Flagstaff Cultural Partners Position Description: Marketing and Design Intern Get involved with a premier arts organization in Flagstaff! Have the opportunity to develop marketing and design materials for art and music events throughout the community! Flagstaff Cultural Partners seeks a Marketing and Design Intern at 10- 15 hours per week from August 2013 through December 2013. The Marketing and Design intern reports to the Deputy Director. Hired candidate is eligible for up to 3 credits if currently enrolled at Northern Arizona University. RESPONSIBILITIES: Marketing—20% - Work with Marketing Manager to maintain file with annual advertising contracts Create and monitor marketing surveys at major events and correlate findings Manage orders and distributions of brochures, postcards, and posters as needed Create media packets Maintain annual collection books with media clippings Learn to update website with Dreamweaver Public Relations—40% - Assist with writing press releases and PSAs; maintain press release schedule and send press releases Update list for broadcast media and print media contacts as needed Maintain events on online web calendars; Complete press forms for calendars as needed Update listings in tourist guides - Upload email contacts from sign-in book in lobby onto email newsletter program and maintain contact list; maintain graph of newsletter statistics Assist in developing monthly e-newsletters Check Flagstaff365.com daily; edit and approve submissions; manage display feature Distribute posters and fliers as needed Take current photos at events and for new exhibitions Keep social media sites updated Graphic Design—40% - Create promotional publications for events and activities Develop full color, high quality invitation posters, flyers, brochures and display ads Design banners for curbside sign Develop vinyl with exhibition titles Assist with design for postcards Website design work as needed KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - Should be in pursuit of a degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design or a related area - Knowledge of marketing trends - Experience developing marketing plans - Experience working in non-profit organizations - Experience writing press releases in AP style - Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher; e-mail marketing programs - Some design experience; general knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite - Some budgeting experience - Superior organizational and communication skills; detail-oriented - Ability to multi-task, work within tight timelines and work in a fast-paced environment - Willingness and ability to learn new tasks and work with others; strong drive and initiation for independent work as needed TO APPLY Email examples of graphic design work, cover letter, resume, and 2 reference contacts to: Elizabeth Vogler, Deputy Director ElizabethVogler@culturalpartners.org *this position has the potential to last the full school year No phone calls please
