Marketing and PR Assistant

Intern, part-time. Not eligible for benefits
10-15 hours per week, February - October
RESPONSIBILITIES
Public Relations
 Assist with writing press releases and PSA’s; maintain press release schedule and
distribute to list-serves
 Update list of broadcast media and print media contacts as needed
 Maintain events on online web calendars; Complete press forms for calendars
 Create media packets for press representatives during open season
 Maintain annual media clipping collection binder
 Update listings in tourist guides
 Upload email contacts from Visitor Center sign-in book to email newsletter program
and maintain contact list; maintain newsletter statistics
 Distribute posters and fliers for special events and programs
 Manage photographs in shared files; take current photos as needed
Marketing
 Assist in managing marketing contracts with regional advertising outlets
 Arrange meetings with advertising representatives
 Attend local or online seminars on marketing topics on behalf of the organization
 Assist in the design of print advertisements
 Assist in the preparation of radio advertisement copy
 Create and monitor marketing surveys at major events and correlate findings
 Manage orders and distributions of brochures as needed
 Assist in the preparation of brochures and postcards
 Assist in preparation of and adherence to annual marketing budget
Social Media
 Manage information gathered from Google alerts and Google analytics
 Assist with social media including posting to Facebook and Twitter
Events
 Assist in the planning and execution of major events including, but not limited to,
The Summer Soiree fundraiser, The Plant Sale, The Summer Concert Series, The
Native Herb Festival, and the Pumpkin Walk
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
 High School diploma
 Two years of college marketing courses
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
 Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher; Vertical Response or Constant
