Hi, my name is Zoe, I’m a British student studying for Masters in Human Right Laws here. Nottingham is a fantastically social campus. There are loads of cafes and bars for you to hang out with friends and it is one of the few universities that actually boast a post-graduate students’ association known as the PGSA, which is ran by a group of very driven people who organise socials and outings for postgraduates. Every school within the University has a specific society – such as law society and LLM soc. for us Masters students! – who organise events for you can get to know your coursemates better. If you want to branch out of your particular discipline, there are 190 other societies here at Nottingham, which cover all aspects of life, such as culture, religion, sports, hobbies, you name it, Nottingham’s probably got it. If, however, you don’t find a society that you want here, the Student Union will be able to support and guide you how to set up your own! If you wanted to have more proactive role in the University life, there are a number of student-run organisations which will give you invaluable insight into business, such as New Theatre, URN University Radio, Impact Magazine and NUTS TV. Every aspect of these organisations are run by students, from the presenting to the admin. So, whatever you are looking for at Nottingham, there’s definitely something within the social life that will make it a memorable time for you here.
