My name is Soon Yee, I come from Malaysia. I’m a PhD student at the department of
Chemical and Environmental Engineering. I applied to the University of Nottingham
because it is a top university with excellent teaching and research, and also because
I was an undergraduate here, I felt very comfortable with the University and the city
which is very ‘international student friendly’. The facilities here are very good, for
example research facilities, library resources.
The people here are very nice, I never fail to seek help when I have questions.
People like lectures and professors always answer my questions when I have
difficulties.
I find the people from the International Office extremely helpful when I went there
sought for help for the visa extension and also when I was applying for my
scholarship.
I am an active member of the Volleyball Club here at the University of Nottingham
and currently the president of the Club. I found it a very good experience to play
sports with people from different countries of the world.
The International Office also organises trips to different places in the UK. I’ve
participated in one of them, and I found it very interesting, very good introduction to
the country.
