Job Purpose:
The Software Engineer Intern will be working on cutting edge and emerging technologies,
and help drive the production and development for tomorrow’s online video analytical
needs.
This position will be located is located in Tempe. Position is scheduled Monday through
Friday flexible hours through the summer.
Essential Functions:







The opportunity to help redesign and unify various DNS platforms. You will have the
opportunity to contribute to all parts of the software stack: from user interface and
API design and implementation to relational databases, configuration management
and Linux performance tuning.

Shared responsibility for a platform that serves over 600 million page views per month
on a multi-tenant, shared infrastructure architecture (SaaS) running on
Python/C++/Linux/MySQL.
The opportunity to contribute to platform-wide features, architecture and design
decisions, and to develop end-to-end features.
Participate in continually improving the software development processes and
practices.
A dedicated QA team that works collaboratively with developers.
Become a key member of the team and make an impact on future system
development.

Qualifications:
Experience and Education (minimums)

Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or above degree program in Computer Science, Software
Engineering or related (e.g. Computer Engineering, Mathematics, and Electrical
Engineering).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities







An understanding of web technologies HTTP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, HTTP, and
web servers. Familiarity with Apache and/or nginx is a plus.
An understanding of modern web applications from database to browser.
Solid skills in any of the following languages: JavaScript (JQuery and Bootstrap a
plus), Python (Django a plus), C++.
Comfortable working in Unix-style environments (Linux and FreeBSD are the variants
we work with).
Creative approach to problem solving, innovation and issue resolution.
Experience with the DNS protocol and DNS server software, especially PowerDNS, is a
plus.
Exceptional communication skills – you aren’t afraid to present what you’ve learned
to your peers.
