Title: Teen Leadership Grade Level: 6, 7, 8th grade Teacher: Tara Wyrwich Date: September 8th-12th Objective: Students will be work as a together and explain how teen leadership relates to team building. They will do an activity that makes them communicate and work as a team or they will not be able to catch anybody or get away from anyone as well. Also the students have a “Party” activity, which students have to think of things they can contribute to the party (group) For example: I’m a good listener, communicate well with others, etc.. I. Standards Addressed: II. Materials for Learning Activities Materials: Balloons, paper, and toothpicks III. Procedures for Learning Activities A. Building relationships, trust, getting comfortable 1. Journals at the top of class (5min.) 2. Take building teamwork outside and have fun with the activity, and tag game, students hook together and run. 3. “The Party” activity outside as well, write on paper what you contribute to the party, put inside the balloons, blow them up, and put all the balloons in the middle of the group. Pop balloons and discuss. B. Instructional Strategies (20 minutes) 1. Getting the students to work as a together as a team, share out, and elaborate more in the discussion. C. Closure (5-10 minutes) 1. Building relationship are important, sharing out ideas, sharing strengths. 2. While working as a team can you identify what the most difficult part of the task was? Discuss out loud why sharing out in front of your peers is so difficult. 3. Writing is a necessity!
