Equipment/Materials: Hoops, Continent Cards placed inside hula hoops spaced around
area like a world map, Playing Cards with continent names
Set Up: Hoops are scattered representing the continents. In the hoop there is a brief
description of the continent.
Activity:
The objective of the game is to move through the ocean on a boat (a group of 4 students
travel in a line and pretend to row while moving) and remember a characteristic of that
continent through physical activity. When the team arrives at the continent they explore it
by doing the exercise given on the card. Once done, the students move on to the next
continent. The continent movements are the following:
 North America – Do Si Do
 South America – Cha Cha
 Europe – Waltz
 Africa- Egyptian Dance
 Asia – Bow and touch toes
 Australia – Jump like a kangaroo
 Antarctica- Penguin walk
