Professor William H. Flayhart (Emeritus): Dr. Flayhart received his PhD in history
from the University of Virginia with a focus on maritime history. His commendable
publishing record includes the award inning Counterpoint to Trafalgar: The Anglo
Russian Invasion of Naples, 1803-1806. His teaching interests are equally notable, having
aught over 28 courses during his tenure at the university. He is now the primary advisor
for all senior capstone papers. Dr. Flayhart has the distinction of being the first professor
in DSU’s history to be elected “Professor Emeritus.” Dr. Flayhart can be reached in ETV
