KBD 1050 – LIGHTING FOR KBD EXERCISE 4 – LIGHTING/ELECTRICAL PLAN OBJECTIVE: With a given plan, complete a lighting and electrical plan as per NKBA specifications and in a method that is the most energy efficient approach possible – in selecting both fixtures and lamps. JOB TASK: Complete lighting and electrical plan including kitchen, dinette, hallway and half bath in plan. PROCEDURE: 1) Trace complete floor plan – and use measures that you read on your scale once you have traced the plan. 2) Determine the following – all of kitchen area, bath and back hallway: a. Outlets throughout and labeled appropriately including location AFF(above finished floor) b. Lighting source location and types; dimensioned as to location as it related to perimeter walls and each other – i.e. recessed cans as they related to all 4 walls and to each other – centerline to the center of the location of the can or fixture. Select light sources (both fixtures and lamps) that are as energy efficient as possible. c. Switches for lighting and appliances as needed with proper and accurate connecting lines; note the AFF of the switches as well – either on the plan or within your legend (i.e. all switches at 48” AFF) 3) Include legend of symbols with their definition on plan as per NKBA’s requirements; usually located to the right of the floor plan. 4) Label with name, scale and date. 5) Create specifications that promote your design and demonstrating a sustainable solution. 6) Make copy to submit; you may scan and put in Dropbox or fax for submission.
