Course Description:
Translation courses are used both to enhance students’ familiarity with English usage and sentence
structure and to point out contrasts between Arabic and English in this respect. Translation (118) is both
practical and introductory in nature.
Course Objectives:
1. Introducing the student to the concept of translation from English to Arabic as a process of problem
solving;
2. Enhancing the student's familiarity with English usage and sentence structure;
3. Informing the student of the contrasts between Arabic and English in usage and sentence structurethus attempting to achieve both the practical and introductory objectives of this course and;
4. Correcting use of a monolingual dictionary.
a) Attendance (no more than 3 absences are allowed), b) Participation, c)
Requirements:
Assignments, and d) Taking the midterm and final exams.

1). Ibrahim, Abdullah Abdul-Razeq (2006) Translation: Principles and
Optional Textbooks:
Applications. University Publishing House.
2). Different sentences and short passages from various sources provided by
the teacher.

Grading:
