Discussion on narrowing the scope of the project

Discussion of parameters to the SIR model and mathematics behind it
o Shubh proposed using the SIR model as the foundation and addition of
parameters the model
o More exploration of the Mathematics behind this model will be done in
upcoming days.
Discussion on the schematics of the BAM model
o Choice of doing a Stochastic vs. a Deterministic simulation pending
review of parameters
Discussion on the diseases to be used in model
o Agreed that infection method will be limited to human-to human
transmission
o List of diseases limited to Smallpox, Ebola, and Viral Encephalitis



Assignment of activities for next week:
o Richard Bornhorst – Project Risk assessment
o Robert Grillo – Research into SIR
o Deepak Janardhanan – Refining the schematic
o Kathryn Poole – Review of Math and preparation for status update
o Shubh Krishna – Math behind the SIR model

Action Items before proposal on Thursday, February 22:
o Kathryn will prepare the slides for the status update
o A draft copy of the proposal will be sent to the project sponsor, Dr. Liu.
o Agree to meet at 2030 on Tuesday, February 20 online.
