Brief: Using Value Methodology to determine the required functions and Choosing By
Advantages to evaluate four state of the art alternatives, we determined that this unit
offered the greatest total importance of advantages at an appropriate initial cost.
Detail:
a. Advantages of this unit were found in its operating system compatibility and weight.
b. There is a potential concern about keyboard size which is why we want to test 10 units in the field before proceeding further. The actual
difference is very small.
c. An alternative exists offering a greater total importance of advantages (Lenovo) however the cost was 3.5 times greater and could not be justified.
