Year 2 was completed under Colorado Plateau CESU Cooperative Agreement 1200-99-009 EFFECTIVE DATES: May 15, 2004 through May 15, 2005 PROJECT ABSTRACT: The Petrified Forest National Park has identified areas of management concern with regards to invasive exotic plant species. As part of the Park Service funded Intermountain Region Noxious Weed Inventory and Mapping Program, the USGS Forest and Rangeland Science Center’s Colorado Plateau Field Station (USGS CPFS) has been asked to conduct a three-year study to inventory and map the noxious weeds of the Petrified Forest NP. In order to conduct the study the USGS CPFS has set the following project objectives: a) b) c) Fully inventory the requested study area in 2002, 2003, and 2004 for targeted invasive exotic plant species, Yearly report to the park describing findings of the inventory through a summary report and digital maps and associated relational database, Develop a systematic survey and reporting technique that allows for continued monitoring of invasive occurrence and the outcome of control actions within the Park. FY02 Project activities have been satisfactorily completed and annual report produced as a result of an Interagency Agreement FY03 Project activities have been satisfactorily completed and the annual report will be available May 2004.
