Over 3000 trees existed in 1994 (Gilbert and McKoy 1997) when the last inventory was conducted. The park is completing a new inventory and a condition assessment that will recommend appropriate preservation techniques such as pruning and propagation. This workshop will provide Capitol Reef National Park staff and the public with the knowledge to take care of these historic resources. The workshop will cover basic historic preservation, fruit tree physiology, pruning and grafting techniques as well as general cyclic maintenance. The workshop will last three days and will allow for 25 applicants, with preference going to parks in the desert southwest. Agency Representative: Agency Administration Investigator: Partner Admin.
