Accreditation: We probably won’t know anything about the accreditation visit until January 10 or later. Program Plans: The next deadline for 2010-2011 plans is December 31, 2009. Evaluation becomes the foundation for your next plan. Get something in the plans about reductions Plan Builder doesn’t lend itself to budget cuts. Need a plan for reduction; make it very general. Sallie Mae will take over the financial aid process. Technically we are not allowed to outsource – unless it is bond money. Human Resources: Barbara Perez is scheduled to go to Compton January 1. Her replacement will be Lynn Solomita. Committee Reports/Division Issues: John Wagstaff: They are working to redeploy Datatel. They are also working on the drop for no fee. From Friday to midday Monday most students paid their fees. Foreign students seem to owe the most money. He has to leave the meeting early for a 9 a.m. phone conference. He will return to see Jo Ann after that to get a VP decision on this. Students won’t be able to register next time if they haven’t paid. Jo Ann is the one who is to approve payment plans and doesn’t plan to approve any more. Five out of eight deans have reported back on the list of computers. He will send Dr. Arce and Jo Ann a list of the three that haven’t responded. Jo Ann’s E-mail has the name of the software that Mercedes wants for her MAC computer. Let Jo Ann know if the software will work on a mac. Jo Ann Higdon: Bob will be acting VP while she is on vacation. She is concerned with safety issues on the Web. Certain Board policies are required to be updated every year. Bob has money in his budget for emergency repairs (Fund 41) They have cut 15% of classes. The Clarus Report is very controversial. Janice Ely: They are still collecting money. Everyone is paying in person or via E-mail. They only got 12 payments by mail. They are still dealing with COTOP issues. Marie Yatman will be back in February. Shelton Bass started December 1. The new person replacing Bill Schneider will start in January. They are getting ready for the Sallie Mae process. Babs Atane: Thanks to Mike for his update on policies and procedures. He will send copies to Jo Ann. She will push them through the system. Per Rocky: On the matrix from last time, some have same League numbers (policies and procedures) but different titles. Babs responded that he gave the managers the matrix for them to correct and/or verify. Board policies are posted on the Web. Procedures are also on the Web; however, you have to call Sheryl in order to find them. The link to these needs to be more accessible. Jo Ann is putting pressure on Babs to get the process going because the other areas are moving ahead of us in this area. Regarding student athlete eligibility – he never got one for football. Bruce Hoerning: There will be a power shutdown on December 23. There will construction at Crenshaw Boulevard and Manhattan Beach Boulevard in January. He will get notices out on this. They should be done by the time spring semester starts. They got the final quote for the Music elevator yesterday. This project should be finished by the first of the year. Regarding the blue phones - should they be replaced with ones with cameras? Tom Brown: Projects: 1. Demolition of the Business building (save some bricks for Jo Ann) 2. Social Science. move. Mike Trevis: They talked with Homeland Security last week re: some Compton students. There were three burglaries in Lot B. They used a shave key. Don’t leave things like computers where they can easily be seen in your car. Bob Gann: The postage account will go dry in January. It should have lasted through April. He will send Jo Ann an e-mail on the mailings that went out. Can bad addresses be eliminated? They are working on the State Scheduled Maintenance Plan. They also updated bond oversight report. Rocky Bonura: He is working on a problem Jo Ann brought him and the Board agenda. Julie Bourlier: They will be in the new location until March. Sales are at 10% under overall. Open Positions: There are four positions open in Facilities. If managers get permission to fill a position, do it as soon as possible, because things can change quickly. Meeting adjourned at 10 a.m. stafs121509
