Adrian Amjadi reported that he received a call from Bruce Hoerning and was told that Operations will be picking up the hazardous chemicals from his area sometime this week for disposal. Division Safety Reports: Art Department – Adrian Amjadi reported that there must have been a change in custodial staffing for the basement of the Art Department because the area is now much cleaner than before. The Faculty that work in the basement as well as the Dean has some concern over the fact that not all the lights are left on. I am sure that this must be a power saving system, but some employees are voicing their concern and want all the lights to be kept on. The division office staff has also submitted a work order. Facilities – Michael Blada reported that his crew has requested that their work buggies have windshield wipers and when it is raining they cannot see very well. Valerie Wagner suggested having wipers installed on the buggies or his crew applies Rain X to the windshield. Valerie Wagner reported that she has a safety concern and I have seen this on more than on one occasion with some Facilities staff and talking on their cell phones while driving their work buggies on campus. There should be no cell phone use while driving whether one is driving their own personal vehicle or a work buggy. The District would get into a lot of trouble if someone were to get hit by someone driving a buggy while using his or her cell phone. SAFETY & HEALTH COMMITTEE Minutes of January 25, 2012 Page 3 of 3 Natural Sciences – Christie Killduff reported that someone from the HVAC Department should check the vents in classroom, LS-130. Next meeting: Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 2 p.m., 2nd Floor of the Bookstore Building, Room 253.
