Range include but are not limited to – heating, pressing, glue composition. 1.2 The need for dust free surfaces is explained in accordance with work site documentation. 1.3 The operating parameters and capability of veneer presses are explained in accordance with work site documentation. Range 1.4 Operating components and process controls of veneer presses are identified and their purpose is explained in accordance with work site documentation. Range 1.5 may include but are not limited to – frame, platen, mylar belt, loading systems, unloading systems, glue spreader, programmable logic controllers, distributed control system. Hazards associated with veneer pressing are identified and the role of protective equipment and safety features is explained in accordance with work site documentation. Range 1.6 may include but are not limited to – pressure, time in press, temperature. hazards may include but are not limited to – heat, moving equipment, pressure; safety features may include but are not limited to – personal protective equipment, hold cards, lockouts, stop buttons, guards, interlocks, alarms. The consequences of non-conformance with work site standards are described in accordance with work site documentation. Outcome 2 Prepare equipment and product components to press wood veneer to wood panel substrates. Evidence requirements 2.1 Glue type is selected to match the product in accordance with work site documentation. 2.2 Glue characteristics are checked for glue weight and/or viscosity and/or pot life in accordance with work site documentation. Range 2.4 may include but is not limited to – replace, replenish. Press parameters are selected to meet the requirements of work site documentation for product type. Substrate is selected in accordance with work site documentation for the product. Outcome 3 Operate and maintain a veneer pressing system. Evidence requirements 3.1 Safe work practices associated with operating the veneer pressing system are identified and used in accordance with works site documentation and legal requirements. Range practices may include but are not limited to – isolation procedures, lockouts, emergency stops, machine guarding, the wearing of appropriate safety equipment. 3.2 Glue spreader and press are set up, started up, operated, and shut down in accordance with work site documentation. 3.3 Veneer is laid up on glued substrate in accordance with the requirements of work site documentation for alignment. 3.4 Waste material is disposed of in accordance with work site documentation. 3.5 Preventative maintenance and cleaning requirements for the veneer pressing system are explained and applied in accordance with work site documentation. Outcome 4 Monitor and control performance of veneer pressing system. Evidence requirements 4.1 Glue level is monitored and topped up for production use in accordance with work site documentation. 4.2 Glue viscosity is monitored and altered for ambient temperature and humidity in accordance with work site documentation. Range operating faults and malfunctions may include but are not limited to – out-of-specification pressure, veneer surface damage, delamination. 4.5 Veneer pressing, quality level, and production rate are maintained in accordance with work site documentation. 4.6 Raw material utilisation is maintained in accordance with work site documentation. 4.7 Production, maintenance and quality records are completed in accordance with work site documentation.
