NZQA registered unit standard 8332 version 3 Page 1 of 3 Title Demonstrate knowledge of ironmaking melters Level 3 Credits Purpose 4 This unit standard is for people working in the steel manufacturing sector. People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of: ironmaking melters; ironmaking melter processes; and the measurement of performance of ironmaking melters. Classification Steel Manufacturing > Steel Manufacturing - Supporting Skills Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes Definition Company documentation refers to the documented procedures, manufacturer’s manuals and selected reference texts for the equipment and process. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate knowledge of ironmaking melters. Evidence requirements 1.1 The characteristics of melters are described in terms of their function, operation, and interrelationship. Range 1.2 melters include but are not limited to – configuration, raw materials, energy source, end products. Service support systems are explained in terms of the function and interrelationship with each other. Range Competenz SSB Code 101571 service support systems include but are not limited to – electrical, process computing, data capture, water, effluent treatment, gases, sampling. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 NZQA registered unit standard 1.3 The characteristics of melter ancillary equipment are described in terms of its function, operation, and application. Range 1.4 ancillary equipment includes but is not limited to – probes, injectors, off gas systems. Please note Providers must be granted consent to assess against standards (accredited) by NZQA, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Requirements for consent to assess and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR). The CMR also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
