This unit standard is for people working in the steel
manufacturing sector.
People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate
knowledge of: direct reduced iron (DRI) manufacturing
methods; DRI manufacturing processes; and the measurement
of performance in DRI manufacture.

materials, kiln, multihearth furnace, reduced primary concentrate
and char chemistry.
Outcome 3
Demonstrate knowledge of the measurement of performance in DRI manufacture.
Evidence requirements
3.1
The application and implications of performance indicators are identified and
described in terms of company documentation.
Range
3.2
performance indicators may include but are not limited to –
metallization, operating time, feed rate, coal to ironsand ratio;
evidence of three is required.
The identity, application, and effect of quality control factors for DRI
manufacturing are described in terms of company documentation.
