People credited with this unit standard are able to: separate
non-ferrous from ferrous materials; maintain continuity of
separator operations; and pack non-ferrous materials.

Definition

Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Separate non-ferrous from ferrous materials.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Materials are identified to enable recovery of specified metals in accordance
with company documentation.

Outcome 2
Maintain continuity of separator operation.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Separator is loaded to match shredder output rate and enables continuity of
separator operation and achievement of separation rate in accordance with
company documentation.
2.2
Separator requirements are communicated to the shredder operator to enable
continuity of separator operation to be achieved.
2.3
Separator operation is monitored to enable plant utilisation requirements to be
achieved.
2.4
Maintenance schedule for the separator is carried out in accordance with
company documentation.
Outcome 3
Pack non-ferrous materials.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Contents of each load meet company and customer requirements for material
type and weight.
3.2
Packaging and product labelling meet company, customer, transport, and
statutory requirements.
3.3
Loads are ready for transport at times specified by the company.

before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses
of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by
NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
