Explanatory notes Definitions Fire fighting systems include fixed sprinkler system including diesel pumps and back-up water supply, and fixed hydrant system. Cooling water systems are closed loop furnace and independent section machine systems, and independent section machine cullet water systems. Water supply systems are mains, fire hydrant, and fire sprinkler. Enterprise means an organisation where training and/or assessment is taking place, and/or where the trainee is employed. Enterprise procedure is defined as actions which comply with the policies, systems, and directives in a particular enterprise. Enterprise procedure must comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, and subsequent amendments. Systems failure is defined as either an emergency situation or non-emergency situation where plant services have gone offline. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Carry out operation of plant services during systems failure. Evidence requirements 1.1 The purpose and operation of plant services is described in accordance with enterprise procedures. includes – location and interpretation of relevant drawings, operation manuals and procedures. Range 1.2 Hazards associated with the operation and use of plant services are identified in accordance with enterprise procedures. Range 1.3 evidence is required for two hazards for each of the plant services. Enterprise emergency and back-up procedures for plant services are operated. Range evidence may be simulated if required. Outcome 2 Carry out emergency restart of an annealing Lehr. Evidence requirements 2.1 Emergency restart procedures are performed and re-start checks conducted in accordance with enterprise procedures.
