People credited with this unit standard will be able to prepare for roll forming of roofing and cladding steel products, and form a range of roofing and cladding steel products from coated and uncoated steel coil. Classification Steel Manufacturing > Steel Manufacturing - Cold Working and Forming Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Definitions Company documentation refers to the documented procedures, manufacturer’s manuals and selected reference texts for the equipment and process. A range of roofing and cladding steel products refers to steel roofing and cladding products formed from coated and uncoated steel coil of gauge G035 to G055. 2 Legislation relevant to this unit standard includes but is not limited to – Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Resource Management Act 1991. 3 This unit standard must be assessed in a workplace environment. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Prepare for roll forming of roofing and cladding steel products. Evidence requirements 1.1 Coils are selected for rolling in accordance with order documentation and enables the manufacture of in-specification product. Range 1.2 selection includes but is not limited to – material, width, grade, gauge, surface coating, colour. Coils are handled in accordance with company documentation to minimise damage and comply with safety requirements. Competenz SSB Code 101571 New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 NZQA registered unit standard 14536 version 3 Page 2 of 3 1.3 Equipment settings are inspected and adjusted within specified tolerances to ensure the manufacture of in-specification product and minimise wastage in accordance with company documentation. 1.4 Coils are uncoiled, inspected and threaded in accordance with company documentation. 1.5 Equipment is set up to ensure plant utilisation requirements are achieved. Outcome 2 Form a range of roofing and cladding steel products from coated and uncoated steel coil. Evidence requirements 2.1 Profile tolerance are monitored within the forming process to ensure process adjustments are made in accordance with company documentation. Range profile tolerances include but are not limited to – pressures and/or tooling spacing and/or lubrication. 2.2 Surface coating is monitored to ensure that quality specifications are in accordance with company documentation. 2.3 Out-of-specification product is actioned in accordance with company documentation. Range actioned includes but is not limited to – identify, segregate and report. 2.4 Causes of tolerance variation are determined and monitored, reduced or eliminated in accordance with company documentation. 2.5 Output product meets quality specifications for colour, surface coating, profile and length. 2.6 Finished product is packed for despatch in accordance with company documentation. 2.7 Product is transferred for despatch in accordance with company documentation. 2.8 Load out rate is maintained in accordance with company documentation.
