Performance criteria 1.1 Cutters required for one day or eight hours shearing are described in terms of quantity and quality, and in accordance with the Shearing Handbook. 1.2 Combs required for one day or eight hours shearing are identified in terms of quantity and quality, and in accordance with the Shearing Handbook. Range 1.3 flat combs, winter combs. Other essential equipment required is identified in accordance with the Shearing Handbook. Element 2 Select gear, and identify and rectify faults in combs. Performance criteria 2.1 Full kit of own gear presented meets the minimum requirements for one day or eight hours shearing in accordance with the Shearing Handbook. Range 2.2 number, type. Relevant comb to shear sheep is identified and selected in accordance with the Shearing Handbook. Range bevel, wool type, breed of sheep, season, safety. 2.3 Combs and cutters are inspected to determine optimum operating condition in accordance with the Shearing Handbook. 2.4 Comb faults are manually rectified in accordance with the Shearing Handbook. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
