This unit standard is for people who design and/or operate
irrigation systems.
People credited with this unit standard are able to write
instructions for the manual covering the operation and
maintenance of irrigation systems in accordance with design
specifications, component requirements, and the Irrigation
Design Code of Practice.

Each of the following systems are required to be assessed against the performance
criteria of this unit standard – fixed, movable, micro-irrigation.

Key performance indicators (KPIs) are those found in the Irrigation Design Code of
Practice.

Credit for this unit standard does not qualify the candidate to work in a drainlaying
situation that comes under the drainlayers licence requirements issued under the
Plumber, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Act 2006 and any subsequent amendments.

Write instructions for the manual covering the operation of the irrigation system in
accordance with design specifications, component requirements, and the Irrigation Design
Code of Practice.
Evidence requirements
1.1
The manual identifies irrigation system type, function, and location.

The manual identifies the control philosophy for normal operation, conditions
leading to overload, and emergency conditions.

Instructions provided specify system operating procedures.

Instructions provided specify system management to mitigate risk under
extreme environmental conditions.

Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and
which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
applies to those standards.
