People credited with this unit standard are able to: describe waste treatment and discharge requirements specific to the workplace; sample, test, and monitor waste treatment and discharge; operate and maintain waste handling and treatment equipment; and comply with organisational and statutory hygiene and safety requirements. Range procedures may include but are not limited to – response, impact minimisation, clean-up, reporting. Outcome 2 Sample, test, and monitor waste treatment and discharge. Range sampling, testing, and monitoring will be in accordance with company and local authority requirements for the tannery involved. Evidence requirements 2.1 Samples are taken, identified, stored, and recorded in accordance with specifications for the test being carried out. 2.2 Tests are carried out in accordance with specified test methods. 2.3 Process parameters, waste discharges, and environmental factors are monitored, recorded, and reported in accordance with frequency and quality requirements. 2.4 Recording devices are checked for accurate operation in accordance with company requirements. Evidence requirements 4.1 Company supplied clothing, and hygiene and safety equipment are worn and used in accordance with organisational and statutory requirements. 4.2 Work methods comply with specified organisational and statutory requirements to minimise the risk injuries to the operator and others. 4.3 Any unsafe and unhygienic conditions are identified and reported to supervisory staff in accordance with organisational requirements. 4.4 Equipment, operator and work area cleanliness comply with organisational and statutory requirements.
