BSI performance is the British Standards Institute internationally recognised performance system (BS3138) where 100% is the standard expected from a competent fully qualified performer using the correct methods and taking the allowed rest, working briskly, and as though on an incentive. Other comparable rating or performance systems such as the 60/80 system are acceptable, with the appropriate performance adjustment. Company safety requirements conform to the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. Competence may be demonstrated by either string or force lasting depending on company requirements. Range: lasts, and/or formes, uppers, lasting pin, split lasting horn, and/or insoles. element 2 Last uppers. performance criteria 2.1 Uppers are conditioned according to company practice. 2.2 Upper and last, and/or forme, match work ticket requirements. Range: left, right, size, style. 2.3 Upper is positioned on last, and/or forme, according to company requirements and practice. 2.4 Work is completed to specified industry performance standard. 2.5 Upper is lasted to company quality standards. Range: force and string lasted – vamp depth, symmetry, top line, tight to last or forme, back height, back seam flat bottom, last fully extended; string lasted only – string tensioned, secured, and trimmed.
