Confirmation of current status is made where investigation determines that the
status should not be changed.

Where a change is required, assessment of feature characteristics against
documented standards provides a basis for determination of the new status.

Focus of plans for maintenance and protection of a feature is on retention of
characteristics which determined the status of the feature.
2.2
Methods used in development of plans for maintenance and protection enable
application of accepted criteria in their evaluation.
Range:
cost-effectiveness, retention of characteristics, level of protection
related to desirable access levels, practical considerations in
relation to desirable aesthetic requirements, provision for record
keeping.
2.3
Interpretation and implementation of the plan can be readily achieved by those
qualified to do the work.
2.4
Implementation of plan is cost-efficient, provides planned level of protection and
maintenance, and regularly reviewed progress towards defined targets enables
revision of implementation as required.
