People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of enhanced graphics tufting, and produce carpet on an enhanced graphics tufter. Classification Textiles Manufacture > Carpet Manufacture Available grade Achieved Entry information Prerequisites: Unit 7190, Tuft plain carpet, and Unit 7192, Tuft carpet on a graphics tufter; or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills. Critical health and safety prerequisites Explanatory notes 1 Plant safety practices and procedures comply with Health and Safety in Employment (HSE) Act 1992, and workplace procedures. 2 Workplace productivity and quality requirements are met. 3 This unit standard recognises the additional skills required to tuft carpets on an enhanced graphics tufter. The basic tufting and graphics tufting skills are recognised in the prerequisite unit standards. 4 Competence will be demonstrated over the range of product produced in the workplace. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate knowledge of enhanced graphics tufting. Range pattern rollers, yarn guides, pattern actuating mechanisms. Outcome 2 Produce carpet on an enhanced graphics tufter. Evidence requirements 2.1 Thread up conforms to work instruction and pattern. 2.2 Pattern faults are traced to yarn and rectified according to the design specification. 2.3 Broken joins are repaired in sequence required by the pattern. 2.4 Broken yarns are threaded to the pattern roller according to the pattern. 2.5 Carpet production meets workplace productivity and quality standards.
