Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to: change the
stripping equipment from the previous production run; check
the accuracy of the initial set up in readiness for production
running; and follow safety requirements for the equipment
being used.

Explanatory notes

All workplace practices must meet any applicable and recognised codes of practice,
and documented workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures for
personal, product, workplace health, safety, and environmental matters, and the
obligations required under current law including the Health and Safety in Employment
Act 1992, Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996, Resource
Management Act 1991, Privacy Act 1993 and their subsequent amendments.

Workplace practices refer to the documented procedures for the equipment and/or
workplace.

Competence in this unit standard must be demonstrated on repeat production tasks
utilising either pin stripping or forme stripping equipment. In these production tasks,
the percentage of internal scrap must not exceed 20%, nor must the number of
internal cut outs exceed 10.

Board warped in excess of 2% is not to be used during assessment. The process for
defining and calculating warp percentage is as follows: when a warped board is laid
on a level surface so as to form a shallow arch, the maximum vertical deviation from
the horizontal is expressed as a percentage of the board dimension that forms the
arch.

Assessments must be conducted where board sheet size is 20% above the
equipment’s specified minimum limit and 20% below the equipment’s specified
maximum limit.
Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Change the stripping equipment from the previous production run.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Stripping equipment is removed and disposed of in accordance with workplace
practices.
1.2
Checks are undertaken prior to setting up for stripping in accordance with
workplace practices.
Range
checks may include but are not limited to, those related to –
production order, board size, board grammage.
1.3
Automatic stripping equipment is set up in accordance with workplace practices.
1.4
The initial set up of the stripping equipment is achieved within the time allowed
by workplace practices for the job to be run.
1.5
Oral instructions given to the assistant participating in the set up are clearly
given, and are acted upon by the assistant.
Outcome 2
Check the accuracy of the initial set up in readiness for production running.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Accuracy of the initial set up is checked and any necessary adjustments are
made in accordance with workplace practices.

Stripping equipment is set up, and all adjustments made in accordance with
workplace practices to ensure that the job requirements are met.
