2 Health and safety procedures must be followed in accordance with workplace and legislative requirements for all tasks leading to assessment of this standard.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used throughout operations in accordance with company procedures and manufacturer’s instructions.
3 Definition
Company procedures refer to all documented policies and procedures of the candidate’s employer at the time of training including, but not limited to, those relating to health, safety, environment, quality, and operations.
4 Performance in this standard is to be assessed under supervision.
Outcome 1
Dip metal components for hot dip galvanizing.
Range evidence is required of dipping solid, plate, hollow, and fabricated components; at least one component is to be double-end dipped.

Evidence requirements
Kettle surface is swept in accordance with company procedures. 1.1
1.2 Components are lifted and moved to the hot dip galvanizing kettle in accordance with company procedures.
1.3 Components are immersed in the hot dip galvanizing kettle in accordance with company procedures.
1.4 Components are withdrawn from the hot dip galvanizing kettle and visually inspected for quality of coating in accordance with company procedures.
Range continuity of coating, uniformity of coating, dross and/or ash contamination.

Double-end dipping achieves continuous coating with minimal overlap.
Dags are removed in accordance with company procedures.
1.7 Components are drained before transfer to the next process in accordance with company procedures.

Evidence requirements
2.1 Work to be excluded from quenching is identified in accordance with company procedures.
Range may include
– no quench or air cool tags, unsuitable components.
Components are quenched in accordance with company procedures.
Range solid, hollow, fabricated, double-end dipped components.
2.3 Components are air dried in accordance with company procedures.
