2 Health and safety procedures must be followed in accordance with workplace and legislative requirements for all tasks leading to assessment of this standard.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used throughout operations in accordance with company procedures and manufacturer’s instructions.

3 Definition

Company procedures refer to all documented policies and procedures of the candidate’s employer at the time of training including, but not limited to, those relating to health, safety, environment, quality, and operations.

Outcomes and evidence requirements

Outcome 1

Direct double-end hot dipping for hot dip galvanizing.

Evidence requirements

1.1 Double-end hot dipping requirements are determined in accordance with company procedures.

1.2 Orientation of components to crane system is planned to minimise overlap of coating.

1.3 Components are double-end dipped in the hot dip galvanizing kettle in accordance with company procedures.

Range immersion duration, tide mark, overlap, ash.

1.4 Components are withdrawn from the hot dip galvanizing kettle and visually inspected for quality of coating in accordance with company procedures.

Range continuity of coating, uniformity of coating, dross and/or ash contamination.

Double-end dipping achieves continuous coating with minimal overlap.

Dags are removed in accordance with company procedures.

Outcome 2

Monitor quality of the double-end hot dipping process for hot dip galvanizing.

Evidence requirements

2.1

Consistency of the double-end hot dipping processes is monitored in accordance with company procedures.

2.2 Where applicable records of hot dipping are kept in accordance with company procedures.
