NZQA Expiring unit standard 23967 version 3 Page 1 of 4 Title Lead a team or group of cleaners Level 4 Purpose Credits 4 This unit standard is for people who lead or seek to lead team or group operations in the cleaning industry under the supervision of an administrator. People credited with this standard are able to: plan and coordinate team or group cleaning operations; lead, and work with, a team or group to implement cleaning services; and monitor the quality of cleaning service provided and the performance of team or group members. Classification Cleaning and Caretaking > Cleaning Services Administration Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Competence demonstrated during assessment against this standard must comply with the requirements of: Employment Relations Act 2000; Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992; Human Rights Act 1993; Parental Leave and Employment Protection Act 1987; Privacy Act 1993; Resource Management Act 1991. 2 Assessment may take place on-the-job or in a simulated environment, but must be similar to the requirements of a real workplace. 3 Definitions Industry best practice refers to any enterprise and/or establishment requirements, practices, policy, procedures, methods and protocols which are in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations and New Zealand Standards. Team or group means a minimum of three (3) staff who regularly interact with one another over a period of time to complete work tasks as a unit. Routine tasks refer to tasks for which there is a single acceptable solution or outcome. The tasks are achieved using standard operating procedures common to the cleaning industry and are familiar to every member of the team or group. Task requirements are consistent with contract specifications and involve operations and/or areas of knowledge and skills required by the cleaning industry. Contract specifications set down the tasks to be done and how often these tasks are to be done. Evidence requirements 1.1 A roll-call of cleaning staff is conducted in accordance with industry best practice. 1.2 Staff absences are documented and reported in accordance with industry best practice. 1.3 From the supplied roster, tasks are prioritised and work requirements are explained and allocated to staff, including any special cleaning requirements in accordance with contract specifications and/or industry best practice. Range 1.4 timeframe available, time allocated, tasks. Quantities of equipment, cleaning supplies, cleaning agents and consumables are maintained on site in accordance with industry best practice. Range replacement equipment, cleaning supplies, cleaning agents and consumables are ordered as required. 1.5 Electrical cleaning equipment with an expired Electrical Safety Certificate (ESC) and/or any electrical cleaning equipment that is damaged or non-operational is recorded and reported in accordance with industry best practice. 1.6 Any replacement electrical cleaning equipment is ordered as required in accordance with industry best practice, and any replaced or repaired electrical cleaning equipment is checked to ensure it has a current ESC. Outcome 2 Lead, and work with, a team or group to implement cleaning services. Evidence requirements 2.1 Team or group are advised of established cleaning methods and practices, in accordance with industry best practice. 2.2 Cleaning methods and practices are implemented in accordance with industry best practice. 2.3 Leadership of team or group supports the delivery of cleaning services in accordance with industry best practice. 2.4 Routine tasks are completed within available timeframes and allotted hours in accordance with industry best practice, and meet contract specifications. Evidence requirements 3.1 Quality of cleaning service provided by team or group is monitored in accordance with contract specifications and industry best practice. Range quality audit checks. 3.2 Results of quality audit checks are documented and reported in accordance with industry best practice and/or contract specifications. 3.3 Individual staff performance and team or group performance are monitored and reported in accordance with industry best practice and/or contract specifications. Range 3.4 performance in achieving work objectives. Results of quality audit checks and monitoring are used to provide feedback to individual staff and to team or group in accordance with industry best practice. evidence of feedback is required for – two individual members, and two team or group feedback sessions. Feedback – acknowledges positive achievements, includes constructive suggestions and encouragement for improving future performance.
