They may refer to legislation, regulations, guidelines, standard operating procedures, manuals, codes of practice, or policy statements. Industry best practice may be documented in management plans, control plans, company procedures, managers’ rules, occupational health and safety policy, industry guidelines, codes of practice, manufacturers’ instructions, and safe working and/or job procedures (or equivalent). Strata management plan refers to a component of the mine’s operational management plan. 4 This unit standard is intended for, but is not limited to, workplace assessment. 5 The candidate is required to assess all working situations for personal safety and safety of others and equipment beyond the instructions received. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Position and set up hydromonitor and associated services in an underground mine. Evidence requirements 1.1 Hydromonitor is positioned and set up in a sub-level or sub-rise in accordance with industry best practice and company procedures. Range may include but is not limited to – monitor pipes, hydraulic hoses, monitor, operator control station, communication system, emergency stop, layout of pipes, joining, support, control services laid out and secured, compressed air laid out and secured, highpressure pipes laid out and secured, flume ways, lighting, power pack, valves, bypass, signage. 1.2 Hydromonitor and associated services are tested for stable function and performance. 1.3 Hydromonitor is repositioned and set up in accordance with industry best practice and company procedures. Range may include but is not limited to – personnel notified, energy sources are isolated, stored energy released, pipes disconnected, monitor repositioned, pipelines flushed, pipelines reconnected, control hydraulics reconnected, sprags installed, lighting positioned. Evidence requirements 2.1 Auxiliary ventilation is installed, extended, or repaired in accordance with the site ventilation principal control plan (VPCP) and other company procedures. 2.2 Ventilation fans are installed in accordance with the VPCP. 2.3 Temporary ventilation stoppings are installed in accordance with ventilation the VPCP and ventilation ACOP. Outcome 3 Set up and maintain other hydromonitor support services in an underground mine. Evidence requirements 3.1 Strata support systems are made and installed in accordance with site strata principal hazard management plan (SPHMP). 3.2 Electrical services are set up and maintained in accordance with industry best practice and site electrical principal control plan. Range 3.3 may include but is not limited to – communication cables, electrical reticulation, electrical equipment, instruments, signage, gas monitoring equipment and interlocks, ventilation interlocks. Pumping services are checked and maintained in accordance with industry best practice and company procedures. Range may include but is not limited to – leaks, glands and flanges, blockages, contamination, flushing water, high pressure, low pressure, slurry. Outcome 4 Store spare materials and equipment for hydromonitor operation in an underground mine. Evidence requirements 4.1 Working area is kept clear of debris and unnecessary equipment in accordance with industry best practice and company procedures. 4.2 Spare materials and equipment are stored in accordance with industry best practice and company procedures. Range may include but is not limited to – pipes, clamps, support materials, hoses, flumes, cables, timber, valves, signage, ducting.
