They may refer to manuals, codes of practice, or policy statements. Works include notifiable works. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Identify and locate third party works in the vicinity of a gas network. Performance criteria 1.1 The purpose of inspecting works in the vicinity of a gas network is described in terms of company procedures. 1.2 Work types around gas network systems are identified in accordance with location and company procedures. Range 1.3 Inspection requirements are identified in accordance with company procedures. Range 1.4 includes such types as – excavation, directional drilling, roading, planting, seismic survey, construction, heavy haulage. may include – plans, works authorisation, permit, safety controls. Pipelines near third party works are located and marked in accordance with company procedures. Range plans, pipe and cable locators, surveys. Element 2 Inspect and advise on works in the vicinity of a gas network. Performance criteria 2.1 Works are inspected for encroachment on gas networks in accordance with company procedures and codes of practice. 2.2 Actions to ensure the safety of network, plant, and public are identified, reported, and recorded in accordance with company safety procedures. 2.3 Advice is given and recorded on works in the vicinity of a gas network in accordance with company procedures. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
