All work practices must comply with regulations and codes of practice pertaining to
the gas industry. A full list of current regulations and applicable codes is available
from the NZ Motor Industry Training Organisation (Incorporated) (MITO).

Company procedures means the documented methods for performing work activities
and include health and safety, environmental, and quality management requirements.
They may refer to manuals, codes of practice, or policy statements.
Works include notifiable works.

Element 1
Identify and locate third party works in the vicinity of a gas network.
Performance criteria
1.1
The purpose of inspecting works in the vicinity of a gas network is described in
terms of company procedures.
1.2
Work types around gas network systems are identified in accordance with
location and company procedures.

Inspection requirements are identified in accordance with company procedures.

planting, seismic survey, construction, heavy haulage.

Advice is given and recorded on works in the vicinity of a gas network in
accordance with company procedures.

Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body
with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from
assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before
they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
