Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate knowledge of
international trends and developments in casino gaming, casino technology
and casino gaming regulatory models; demonstrate knowledge of the impact
upon and implications of these trends and developments for New Zealand
casinos; and develop a proposal for the implementation of a selected
international trend or development in casino gaming, technology, or
regulatory models for a casino in New Zealand.

Range
research must include a minimum of – one international trend, one
development, two overseas casinos.
Performance criteria
1.1
Research identifies international trends and developments in casino gaming in
terms of their uptake and implementation in overseas casinos.
1.2
Analysis of identified international trends and developments establishes those
relevant to casino operations in New Zealand.
Element 2
Demonstrate knowledge of international trends and developments in casino technology.
Range
research must include a minimum of – one international trend, one
development, two overseas casinos.
Performance criteria
2.1
Research identifies international trends and developments in casino technology
in terms of their uptake and implementation in overseas casinos.
2.2
Analysis of identified international trends and developments establishes those
relevant to casino operations in New Zealand.

Demonstrate knowledge of international trends and developments in casino gaming
regulatory models.

requirements in overseas casinos.
3.2
Analysis of identified international trends and developments establishes those
relevant to casino inspection and monitoring in New Zealand.

4.1
An analysis establishes the short and long term implications and impacts of
international trends and developments in casino gaming on casino operations.
4.2
An analysis establishes the short and long term implications and impacts of
international trends and developments in casino technology on casino
operations.
4.3
An analysis establishes the short and long term implications and impacts of
international trends and developments in casino regulatory models on casino
gaming.
Element 5
Develop a proposal for the implementation of a selected international trend or
development in casino gaming, technology, or regulatory models for a casino in New
Zealand.
Performance criteria
5.1
International trend or development selected in casino gaming, technology, or
regulatory models is identified and analysed as relevant and applicable to New
Zealand casinos.
5.2
International trend or development in casino gaming, technology, or regulatory
models negotiated with casino regulatory authorities establishes revisions
required to current regulations to allow implementation.
Range
5.3
regulatory authorities include – Gambling Commission;
Department of Internal Affairs – Casino Inspectorate.
The implementation proposal developed provides the policy and procedures to
introduce a selected trend or development into a New Zealand casino.
Range
the proposal includes – requirements for staffing and capital
equipment; rules and procedures, marketing plan, impact of
operation, review procedures.

Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.

Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
