People credited with this unit standard are able to describe basic leadership theory and NZCF leader responsibilities, and demonstrate leadership skills as part of a NZCF small group. Special notes 1 All knowledge and practice requirements must comply with the policy and training manuals for NZCF, RNZN, NZA and/or RNZAF. 2 Training manuals relevant to this unit standard include NZCF manuals 155 (SCC), 156 (NZCC), 157 (ATC), and 153 (Leadership). New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 24100 version 1 Page 2 of 3 4 Definitions ATC is the Air Training Corps of NZCF; NZA is the New Zealand Army; NZCC is the New Zealand Cadet Corps of NZCF; NZCF is the New Zealand Cadet Forces; RNZN is the Royal New Zealand Navy; RNZAF is the Royal New Zealand Air Force; SCC is the Sea Cadet Corps of NZCF. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Describe basic leadership theory and NZCF leader responsibilities. Performance criteria 1.1 Description identifies the different leadership styles. Range 1.2 Description identifies leadership approaches. Range 1.3 authoritative, consultative, participative, laissez faire. situational, functional. Description identifies the roles and functions of NZCF leaders. Range cadet junior leader, cadet senior leader. Element 2 Demonstrate leadership skills as part of an NZCF small group. Performance criteria 2.1 Techniques of briefing are demonstrated in accordance with relevant NZCF manuals. 2.2 Issuing instructions is demonstrated in accordance with relevant NZCF manuals. 2.3 Leading a small group on a specified task is demonstrated in accordance with relevant NZCF manuals. Range minimum of three tasks as the small group leader. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
