Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to: locate,
assemble, wrap and package goods for dispatch; and dispatch
goods within an agreed timeframe in a retail or distribution
environment.

Explanatory notes
1
The following unit standards may be considered relevant to and/or supportive of this
unit standard, but are not prerequisite unit standards: Unit 11982, Pick and assemble
goods using a computerised inventory management system; Unit 11975, Pick and
assemble goods for dispatch in a retail or distribution environment; and Unit 11958,
Demonstrate knowledge of stock management procedures and systems in a retail or
distribution environment.

Performance of the outcomes of this unit standard must comply with the
requirements of the following: Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992; and
Health and Safety Regulations 1995.

Definitions
Agreed indicates a course of action that is established between two or more people
(including the candidate) and which follows organisational procedures.
Dispatch refers to transportation by courier, rail, truck, airfreight.
Organisational procedures refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures
which are formally documented, or generally accepted within the workplace.
Retail or distribution environment refers to workplaces where the primary focus is on
customers purchasing goods and/or services.

Evidence requirements
1.1
Goods for dispatch are located as specified on the dispatch order and within an
agreed timeframe.
Range

Assembled goods are checked for discrepancies with the dispatch order, and
any required corrective action is taken within an agreed timeframe.

discrepancy, rectify discrepancy, notify supervisor.

Wrapping and packing of assembled goods complies with organisational
procedures.
1.4
Identification of assembled goods is complete, accurate, and visible.

of goods, destination, delivery date and/or time, special handling
instructions, labels.

Security of assembled goods is maintained in accordance with organisational
procedures.

Safe work practices are used to assemble and move goods in accordance with
