Explanatory notes 1 2 Definitions Organisational procedures refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which are formally documented, or generally accepted within the workplace. Point of sale refers to place and equipment where customer payments are received. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Maintain point of sale. Evidence requirements 1.1 Point of sale is opened in accordance with organisational procedures. Point of sale is clean and tidy with reference material and consumables available. Range reference material may include but are not limited to – price lists, codes, telephone extension numbers, lost and/or stolen credit card lists; order books; consumables may include but are not limited to – transaction slips, cartridges, ribbons, rolls, receipt tapes, stationery, packaging materials. 1.4 Contingency plans are followed in the event of power or equipment failures in accordance with organisational procedures. 1.5 Point of sale is closed in accordance with organisational procedures. Range may include but is not limited to – time, access, password, security. Outcome 2 Accept customer payments at point of sale. This unit standard is Evidence requirements expiring Range may include but are not limited to – cash, cheque, credit card, debit card, EFTPOS, voucher. 2.1 Correct price is entered and confirmed with customer in accordance with organisational procedures. 2.2 Customer payment method is determined. 2.3 Payment is received and correct change is tendered, together with receipt. 2.4 Errors are identified, corrected, recorded and explained in accordance with organisational procedures. 2.5 Security procedures are followed in accordance with organisational procedures. 2.6 Payments and documentation are stored securely in accordance with organisational procedures.
