Definitions
Agreed indicates a course of action that is established between two or more people
(including the candidate) and which follows organisational procedures.
Organisational procedures refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures
which are formally documented, or generally accepted within the workplace.
Retail or distribution environment refers to workplaces where the primary focus is on
customers purchasing goods and/or services.

Elements and performance criteria
Element 1
Plan and prepare for a stocktake in a retail or distribution environment.
Performance criteria
1.1
Products and areas included in stocktake are recorded and clearly identified in
the floor plan in accordance with organisational procedures.
1.2
Stocktake resources are identified, allocated, and available in sufficient quantity
for stocktake to be completed within agreed timeframe.
Range
1.3
resources may include but are not limited to – personnel,
documentation, equipment.
Stocktake cut off point is selected and identifies the stock to be counted.
Range
cut off point may include but is not limited to – last delivery, last
dispatch, last sale to be included in stocktake.
1.4
Stocktake inventory records are accurate, complete, and available in sufficient
quantity for stocktake.
1.5
Incoming and outgoing goods are isolated from stocktake in accordance with
organisational procedures.
1.6
Potential problems with stocktake are identified and corrective action is taken, in
accordance with organisational procedures.
Range
potential problems may include but are not limited to –
discrepancies in floor plan, location of products, allocation of
personnel, allocation of resources, faulty or damaged products;
evidence is required for two potential problems.
Element 2
Manage a stocktake in a retail or distribution environment.
Performance criteria
2.1
Personnel and resources allocated are managed during a stocktake in
accordance with organisational procedures.
2.2
Stocktake is conducted within agreed timeframe and budget.
2.3
Stocktake is completed within agreed timeframe and budget.

Element 3
Record a stocktake in a retail or distribution environment.
Performance criteria
3.1
Stocktake records are accurate and complete in accordance with organisational
procedures.
3.2
Variances between stock held and stock records are identified and recorded in
accordance with organisational procedures.
3.3
Stocktake records are filed in accordance with organisational procedures.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
