Install cladding to plans and specifications under supervision

Purpose
This unit standard is for people who work, or intend to work, in
the heating, ventilation and air conditioning sector of the
engineering industry. People credited with this unit standard
are able, under supervision, to: read work site documents for
installing cladding; procure materials; and manufacture and fit
the cladding.

Critical health and
safety prerequisites
Open, however, it is recommended that people undertaking this
unit standard have already demonstrated competence in metal
fabrication - light.
Explanatory notes
1
Work site documents include contracts, drawings and any documented installation for
the mechanical service to be installed.

All work site practices must meet recognised codes of practice and documented
safety procedures and safety plans (where these exceed code) for personal and work
site safety, and obligations required under current legislation.
3
Installation programme refers to any documented programme for installing the
system (eg, a construction programme).
4
Manufacture means site-fabrication of cladding.

Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Prepare to install cladding.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Materials required for job match work site documents and supervisor’s
instructions.
1.2
Quantities of materials requisitioned and received are checked against inventory
and verified with supervisor.
1.3
Setting out of job is in accordance with work site documents and supervisor’s
instructions.
1.4
Installation of cladding is coordinated with other trades and confirmed with
supervisor.

Outcome 2
Manufacture cladding.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Manufacture of cladding is completed in accordance with work site documents
and operational practice.
2.2
Manufacture of cladding is completed without unplanned cost or waste.
Outcome 3
Fit cladding.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Cladding is positioned and secured in accordance with work site documents and
supervisor’s instructions.
3.2
Installation of cladding is completed without unplanned cost or waste.
3.3
Installation of cladding is completed so that control instructions and
identifications can be read.
3.4
Installation meets installation programme schedule and requirements.
This unit standard is expiring. Assessment against the standard must take place
before the expiry date set out below.

NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and

applies to those standards.
