automated can body parting machines which comprise an
infeed system, a parting tool, and an outfeed system.
People credited with this unit standard are able to: perform a
height changeover on, and test run and monitor, an
automated can body parting machine.

Definitions

procedures put in place by the candidate’s employer.
These include: site safety procedures; equipment
operating procedures; standard job procedures; and
procedures for the handling and disposal of materials
and waste.

All work practices must meet recognised codes of
practice and documented worksite safety procedures
(where these exceed the code) for personal, product,
and worksite safety, and must meet the obligations
required under current legislation.

not limited to the: Health and Safety in Employment Act
1992; Resource Management Act 1991; Hazardous
Substances and New Organisms Act 1996.

Parting machine is locked out in accordance with worksite procedures.
1.2
Parting machine height changeover is explained in terms of purpose and
method of operation, and key points for each key step.
1.3
Parting machine components are changed or adjusted for height in accordance
with worksite procedures.
Range:
height changes or adjustments may include but not limited to –
guide and support rails, stars, spacers, magnet plates, blocks,
parting knives, shimming.

performance criteria
2.1
Parting machine is test run and monitored in accordance with worksite
procedures.
2.2
Parting machine adjustments are made until parting machine operates in
accordance with worksite procedures.
2.3
Parting machine height changeover report is completed in accordance with
worksite procedures.
