People credited with this unit standard are able to: analyse lighting and technology requirements to develop kitchen or bathroom designs; and apply lighting and technology requirements to developed kitchen or bathroom designs. These requirements include but are not limited to – company specifications and procedures, work instructions, manufacturer’s specifications, product quality specifications, legislative requirements. Client – refers to the person who has commissioned the design brief. Kitchen or bathroom design brief – refers to the design parameters agreed between the kitchen or bathroom designer and the client. 4 Evidence is required of a minimum of two different kitchen or bathroom designs. Evidence requirements 1.1 Types of lighting used in a kitchen or bathroom are analysed in terms of their function, client requirements, legislative requirements and the references. Range 1.2 Lighting options are identified and analysed to determine their suitability to meet the kitchen or bathroom design brief. Range 1.3 types of lighting include but are not limited to – incandescent, fluorescent, halogen, low-voltage, light emitting diode (LED). suitability includes but is not limited to – aesthetics, function, cost, availability. Lighting options are communicated to the client in accordance with worksite requirements. Outcome 2 Analyse technology requirements to develop kitchen or bathroom designs. Evidence requirements 2.1 Types of technology used in a kitchen or bathroom are analysed in terms of their function, client requirements, legislative requirements and the references. Range 2.2 Technology options are identified and analysed to determine their suitability to meet the kitchen or bathroom design brief. Range 2.3 types of technology may include but are not limited to – integrated systems, sound systems, smart appliances; evidence relating to a minimum of two types of technology is required. suitability includes but is not limited to – aesthetics, function, cost, availability. Evidence requirements 3.1 Lighting and technology requirements are incorporated into the developed kitchen or bathroom design in accordance with worksite requirements and the kitchen or bathroom design brief. 3.2 Client approval for the lighting and technology requirements and the developed design is sought in accordance with worksite requirements.
