Definitions
Vagahau Niue refers to the language of Niue. This unit standard involves written
Vagahau Niue;
Context refers to communicative situations, topics and settings appropriate to written
Vagahau Niue;
Simple refers to simple sentences, simple compound sentences, limited use of
dependent clauses, and common usage vocabulary;
Familiar refers to topics and settings that are within the learner’s personal
experience;
Written correspondence refers to initiating and/or responding to letters, emails and
facsimiles;
Narrative refers to an account or sequence of events.

Evidence required for this unit standard is one written response and one written
narrative in Vagahau Niue, each between 100 – 150 words.

Endorsement of village language variation may be conducted by pulotu, village or
community appointed experts.

Achievement of the evidence requirements allows for minor errors in grammar,
vocabulary and spelling, and translation of English expression. Texting abbreviations
are not permitted.
