Performance criteria 1.1 Construction of masking tape is identified in accordance with product manufacturer specifications. 1.2 Types and sizes of masking tape are identified in accordance with product manufacturer specifications. 1.3 Masking materials are described in accordance with product manufacturer specifications. Range 1.4 paper, plastic, covers, foam material. Purpose of masking materials is identified in accordance with product manufacturer specifications. Range includes but is not limited to – masking tapes, paper, plastic and other coverings, liquid masking materials, masking machines and tools used to cut masking paper, foam soft edge and aperture masking materials, fine line tape. Element 2 Demonstrate knowledge of masking techniques for two pack painting. Performance criteria 2.1 Masking requirements for two pack paints are described in accordance with product manufacturer specifications. Range 2.2 Variances in masking techniques are determined in accordance with product manufacturer specifications. Range 2.3 single and double masking, remasking, cleanliness, solvent penetration, size of masking area. two pack masking, single pack masking, soft edge masking, masking stripes (internal, external masking), tape removal. The importance of masking is described in accordance with product and vehicle manufacturer specifications. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
