Explanatory notes 1 All workplace practices must meet any applicable and recognised codes of practice, and documented workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures for personal, product, workplace health, safety, and environmental matters, and the obligations required under current law including the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Resource Management Act 1991, and their subsequent amendments. 2 Workplace practices refer to the documented procedures for the machine and/or workplace. 3 Jobs undertaken for this unit standard must include work to a minimum sheet size of SRA3, and must include halftones. 4 To determine the candidate’s ability to produce close register work, work must include jobs run as a single colour. Evidence requirements 1.1 Ink sequence order is determined to meet the job requirements. Range ink drying, paper stretch, overprint finishes, backing up. 1.2 Make ready is carried out for the first colour of a two colour close register job. 1.3 Make ready is carried out for second colour of a two colour close register job ensuring that an exact fit between colours is achieved. Outcome 2 Prepare auxiliary equipment required for the job. Evidence requirements 2.1 Numbering machines are located and skip wheels are altered to suit the job specifications. 2.2 Numbering machines are tested to ensure optimum functioning. Range 2.3 Perforating rules are selected to suit both the substrate and the job requirements. Range 2.4 either of – forward or backward. paper, board. Cutting, creasing and scoring rules are prepared to meet the requirements of the job specifications. Outcome 3 Print two colour close register work including numbering and perforating. Range 3.5 colour density, fit, register, overprinting colours. Printed copies are sorted to the standard of the pass sheet. Outcome 4 Undertake post press tasks. Evidence requirements 4.1 Quantity printed is checked against job documentation before wash up is commenced and plate is removed from cylinder, and any discrepancies are rectified or reported in accordance with workplace practices. 4.2 Job documentation is completed in accordance with workplace practices. Range 4.3 any of – job sheets, time sheets, electronic data storage. Printed substrate is prepared for forwarding to the next production process. Range drying, packaging, further processes.
