Purpose
This unit standard is for people who work in public sector
agencies as compliance officers or investigators. People
credited with this unit standard are able to give evidence in a
judicial hearing.

1
Assessment will be in relation to those laws, regulations, bylaws, activities,
procedures, and policies defined by the compliance and/or regulatory organisation
relevant to the performance context.

Judicial hearing may include formal court hearing, tribunal, administrative hearing, or
quasi-judicial hearing.

Evidence requirements
1.1
Appearance and demeanour are professional and in keeping with organisational
and/or hearing requirements in respect of uniform and/or standard of dress.
1.2
Hearing procedures and etiquette are followed.
1.3
Authority is sought before contemporaneous notes are referred to.
1.4
Legally admissible evidence given is delivered in a manner able to be readily
assimilated by intended audience and in accordance with organisation's
requirements and is factual and relevant to proceedings.
1.5
Language used is professional, objective, and in accordance with organisation's
requirements.

Please note
Providers must be granted consent to assess against standards (accredited) by NZQA, or
an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can
report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading
to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by
NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and
which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
applies to those standards.
Consent requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
