People credited with this standard are able to: buff a hard floor using a swing type polisher; and spray buff the hard floor using a swing type polisher. Explanatory notes 1 Competence demonstrated during assessment against this standard must comply with the requirements of: Employment Relations Act 2000; Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992; Resource Management Act 1991. 2 Equipment and cleaning agents must be used in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. 3 Definitions Dustrol may also be called static mop or dust mop. While the technical applications vary between each of these the principles are the same, the purpose is to remove dust from the floor without creating dust showers. Industry best practice refers to any enterprise and/or establishment requirements, practices, policy, procedures, methods and protocols which are in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations and New Zealand Standards. Range swing type polisher, buffing pad, dustrol, brush, pan, residual current device. 1.2 Selected equipment is safety checked and non-operational and/or damaged equipment is reported in accordance with industry best practice. 1.3 Warning signs are displayed in accordance with industry best practice. Range at least one of – signs, cordons, barriers. 1.4 Loose soil is removed without creating dust showers and dustrolled floor is free from dust and loose soil. 1.5 Swing polisher is used in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions to complete the task. Range continuous movement; care taken at corners, obstructions and in proximity to objects. 1.6 Task is completed without damage to furnishings, fittings, or fixtures in the area. 1.7 Equipment is cleaned, checked and stored in accordance with industry best practice. Outcome 2 Spray buff the hard floor using a swing type polisher. Evidence requirements 2.1 Selected equipment is clean and in working condition. Range swing type polisher, buffing pad, spray bottle. 2.2 Selected equipment is safety checked and non-operational and/or damaged equipment is reported in accordance with industry best practice. 2.3 Warning signs are displayed in accordance with industry best practice. Range at least one of – signs, cordons, barriers. 2.4 Loose soil is removed without creating dust showers and dustrolled floor is free from dust and loose soil. 2.5 Cleaning agent (spray) is prepared in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations. Range continuous movement; care taken at corners, obstructions and in proximity to objects. 2.8 Task is completed without damage to furnishings, fittings, or fixtures in the area. 2.9 Equipment and cleaning materials are cleaned, checked and stored in accordance with industry best practice.
